routines

Deep thoughts on routines...

Some may refer to routines as mundane. Not I. I thrive on routines.
Routines can create a sense of security & stability.
Routines can ease transitions that may otherwise be difficult.

Here are a few of my routines...
Morning, afternoon, and nightly routines with the kids.
Cleaning routine throughout the week.
Routine for getting kids ready for church.
Routine for brushing & flossing teeth.

Recently Mitch and I added to our nightly routine...
*get the kids in bed
*grab 2 cupcakes
*meet at the tv
*watch an episode or two of Alias
It's my new favorite routine, and I look forward to it every night.

side note-mitch bought the alias box set from a garage sale
.

another side note-at times throughout the day we refer to one another like we are characters on Alias. When my finger nail bent backwards the other day while working in the yard. Mitch said, "That's good. You've got to toughen up to get prepared for interrogations."

yet another side note-Mitch grounded me from blogging. It didn't work.

So funny that you should blog this. I had Amy and Darcy come over after they were at your house and they said that they felt so bad that their kids spilled Froot Loops in your immaculate house. We were just in awe that someone can keep their house clean like you can. Maybe I should start routines and try and stick to them... nah, I don't think I would last more than one week... In the mean time I will sit in my pigsty :)

Love IT! I'm all about routines. Always have been, but it really got serious with the twins & having 3 kids under the age of two.
Routines save my life & my sanity!

Now, as for the ALIAS....I consider Kenny & I "Die Hard" Alias fans. Ummm we watched EVERY season (thats 5) in 2 months, easy!

Started out innocent enough...a few episodes at night, then quickly became staying up till 3am to just watch one more. Then became, come home at lunch for a quick episode & all day sunday (yes I admit, sunday!) not knowing where or what the kids were doing.
To sum it up! We loved it! & hope you do too!

i love your new routine...the one with alias and the fraudulent cupcakes. i know they call themselves cupcakes, but as a self-proclaimed cupcake expert i took the liberty to do a little research for you. i found you some real cupcakes in your area. please refer your future cupcake business to So Cupcake (801)274-8300 socupcake.com or Mini's Cupcakes (801)556-5158 or minis-cupcakes.com

i am not affiliated with either of these lovely cupcake purveyors, though that may change in the near future.

enjoy!!

I'm a routine FANATIC and was an Alias FANATIC as well. I happened to watch it when it was on and had to wait weekly for new episodes, can I just say I LOVE Michael Vartan (huge crush here). Jonny and I have been watching the first 3 seasons of the Office (straight from China...it took some serious Googling to figure out the order of the DVD's) and I'm thinking about buying Cupcakes now....Thanks!

Katie I have to admit that I check your blog daily cause I love seeing what you have to say next about random things in life. I really look up to what a positive and fun person you are. Tyler and I did many long nights of 24, and lost, and prison break. I promise we aren't addicted to the tv. I love to freeze my cupcakes before I eat them.

My first happy thought on Katie's blog - Im so excited! Our obsession was once Lost - we jumped on the band wagon about 3 seasons late and once we finally caught up we had to watch it on the internet because it's not on until 10 in NY. that was way too late for us. As for snacks, there is no communal snacking in our home because Tom has no self control. I, however, am an expert at self control and so can hide things around the house, but sometimes I forget where they are.

You are such a great example to me! I keep trying to keep up on all our family routines because they really matter, especially with our little ones. Pete and I watched Servivor for years faithfully and then last year we just stopped... We havent picked up a new ones since. Those cup cakes look tasty! ;)
