While some transitions in life are welcomed with opened arms, others are not. Lately I've been dealing with an unwelcomed transition of Lukas taking only one nap a day. I was comfortable with two, it gave me time to accomplish much. Now the boy thinks he is old enough to make these decisions on his own! He didn't even consult me on this issue ahead of time, he just refused to sleep when I put him down for an afternoon nap. He hangs out in his crib, talks and plays, but sleep is not an option.
Though it is a difficult transition, I guess it is time to let go of nap # 2. He will be 2 in May, and I was hoping to hold him off until then, but the unwelcomed transition didn't listen to my time line. Oh well.

Wow, you got him to last long! Abby gave up the 2 naps at about 16 months. Which coincidentally was the same time we moved her to a twin bed and stopped nursing...
Know what I suggest? Hold off on the morning nap until later in the afternoon. That's what I did with Will, and he still will sleep for at least an hour and a half, but a lot of times he'll sleep for THREE HOURS. You heard me. I would reccomend trying it.
Thank you Amy. That's exactly what we have now transitioned to. I just miss the two nap thing.
How did you ever get him to take 2 naps for so long? Lucy is not only down to one nap, but most of the time won't take any naps. Talk about no alone time.
such a hard transistion! I feel your pain...BTW - it was awesome to see you again, but yet didn't get to hang out with you! Sorry AGAIN!!
Oh I love it when they take only one nap. It makes time for a fun activity in the morning and a long rest in the afternoon. It's my favorite schedule! The worst is when they give up naps altogether. I'm hoping Matthew doesn't do that until he's in Kindergarten (I know... good luck with that!)
I'm praying fervently that Ruby will not give up nap time period! Little stinker thinks shes gonna miss out on the party!
