My fabulous chocolate milkshake~
You will need the following ingredients:
~Milk (I use 1%, but 2% would work great too)
~Dreyers Chocolate ice cream (must be dreyers, but not necessarily slow-churned)
~A glass cup (must be glass)
~A spoon
Follow the directions precisely.
1~Put chocolate ice cream in a glass cup
2~Put milk on top, until it covers most of the ice cream
3~Let milk & ice cream sit for 22 seconds for appropriate crystallization processes to occur.
4~Use spoon to chomp the ice cream up. THERE WILL BE NO STIRRING involved. Stirring will ruin the texture/consistency you are striving to achieve. This is where most chocolate milkshake makers fail. The secret is to NOT stir. Rather, use a chomping motion up and down.
When you are finished there will be perfect little icy bumps throughout your shake. This is what you want, trust me.
*If you are feeling overwhelmed and need an in-person demonstration, I am available to assist you any day at any hour. Please bring the ingredients, in case I don't have them on hand. I promise to not only teach you, but to help you eat one.

Oooohhhh.... This reminds me of the hot chocolate recipe on "The Santa Claus" when Judy the Elf says it needs to be "shaken, not stirred".
On another note: Have I not told you of my obsession with John Cusack. I. Love. Him. Honestly. I am allowed to cheat with him and it won't be cheating (Dallas said it was okay). And by cheating I mean he will take me out and be awkward and make me laugh all night. He's the greatest. So, I am up for ANY John Cusack flick.
Name the date and time, and I'm there for our 80's date. Heck- you stay home, I stay home, let's get together and be a stay at home team. (Please tell me you got what line that was a play off of.)
Call me. Or blog. Whichever.
Katie I am so happy too see someone else knows how to make a "real chocolate shake." It is all about the crystals---everyone else has always thought I was crazy- o-well there loss right:)
We so LOVE chocolate milk shakes at our house. And yes, the chomping motion is most important to achieve the icy chunks.

Do you think it will work with skim milk? I have never been a good milkshake maker. When I get the craving I just send Chris down to the Dairy Keen drive thru (after the kids are in bed of course... I don't want to have to share)
