another level

We took goal-making to another level this year.
Had no idea when I married Mitch how self-motivated he is, but I am pleasantly surprised!
He decided we needed to have a "planning retreat" at the beginning of each year. We left the kids at home with a wonderful sitter (thanks Mom-you're the best), then went out of town, stayed in a hotel, and with laptops in hand had an intense planning session for two days. Goals/plans were made for 2009, as well as a 5 year plan. It made a believer out of me. At first I thought it would just be a fun get-away, but it was way more. We accomplished much.
Made goals in the following areas:
~Spiritual
~Physical
~Financial
~Personal
~Social

We heard someone compare goal-making to a shopping list. If you walk into a grocery store without a list you may get a few things you had in mind, but will likely wander around aimlessly and end up with things you don't really need. With a list you know exactly what you need, and your experience can be productive. Love it.
Now it's implementation and follow through time!

I am so impressed....seriously so IMPRESSED! Best of luck with the follow through, although I have no doubt you will be checking each item off your list! You are amazing!

I love that YOU & MITCH are both like that! I'd have a very hard time roping Curtis into planning a trip a month let a lone 2 weeks ahead! I'll stick with a week at a time. Luv you!

I think I'm the only one who hasn't set any '09 goals yet.....

Good for you and Mitch for being on the same page. It's gotta feel good.

I have no idea how the two of you think of every great thing to do! Also we are wondering what happened to the Cousin Eddie blog post?

I love it. Still no goals here. We like to keep the bar real low. Low enough so that we can sit on it for a while.

Oh and Lucy's socks go missing and are later found behind her crib also.

I love your post they are so great.

I love the idea of a planning retreat. Pete's extremely goal oriented but he takes on a simple approach (for me). So, were big on setting goals and we really work to accomplish the ones we set throughout the year. lol I'm sending this post to Pete. Great idea, thanks. ;)

That is such a great idea. I know I wouldn't be as dedicated to the laptop while on a vacation. Thanks for sharing your goals. You are truly motivating.

Wow! Now that is some serious Goal Setting. Sounds like something my Brother Brian would do. I'm a little more laid back when it comes to new years goals, I think because I always quit them, so I just don't set them so I won't have to fail :) I should take your advice, you nailed it on the head with the grocery list analogy
