thrive not suffer

Dear OCD~

Thank you for being part of my life. I love you, and I always have. Since I was a small child you have  brought me great joy. You helped me keep my room clean & organized, then possessed me to take pictures of how wonderful everything looked.
Now I am all grown-up, and I can fully appreciate the effect you have on me. Some would say I suffer because you, but I am quick to correct that I actually thrive because of you. Our beautiful relationship has resulted in a weekly cleaning schedule, workout schedule, and shower schedule. Over time my pantry and other loved ones have realized your positive effect. Though some have mocked your influence in my life, it doesn't bother me.
As I reminisce about some of our experiences together, I can't help but laugh. Like the time Mitch went into the closet and rearranged the shirts and the shoes, just to see how long it would take me to realize. It is true that others have been entertained by our relationship, but I think they are just jealous.
Ultimately you have brought me a sense of peace, joy, and true happiness. Words can't even describe the feeling I have when everything is in order. This is just my weak attempt to thank you for coming into my life. Please don't ever leave.
love~
katie

I realize it may not actually be "OCD," but whatever it is I love it

Can you give me some of whatever "it" is? Or at least come to New York and organize all of my closets? Just wondering....

I've got to get me some of that. Seriously, my life could use a lot more organization. Post some tips lady! :)

I would also like to share your "it." Chris would love if the clothes hit the closet, even if they were not in order. I love you just the way you are Katie.

I really hope that's contagious! I've ALWAYS struggled with this - you're so lucky it comes natural for you!

How you make me laugh. Right out loud, I might add. Excuse me, I should say: LOL.

Way to embrace the OCDness. I have a much smaller nugget of it in me, but the funny thing is yours grows stronger as you get older and mine tends to weaken. I was way more so in high school/college.

I think I have met OCD before. Hmm... she has stopped by a few times, here and there, just to say hi, pay a visit to the ol' closet/drawer/kitchen. We have always had sort of a love-hate relationship. She is such an extremist. I am not. Therefore, we only get along %50 of the time.

Oh how I wish I had an OCD friend like you do. If only I could figure out how to be organized and keep things organized every day... Sadly though, I am one of those people that stresses and has to clean everytime that someone wants to "just stop by". I would love to be one of those people that could keep their house perpetually clean.

And anyone who has been to your house can't even argue about this! I love it. Guess what Jenn got for Christmas? A box that said "May all of your wildest dreams come true." What was in it? Nothing but white hangers.

You are two peas in a pod!

You are too funny. Oh and by the way I noticed your comments on my blog today. You crack me up.

Katie where do you come up with this stuff. I think we should all be paying weekly fees to be able to view your blog because it cracks me up. If you are running out of places to make use of your OCD gift consider bringing it over here for a change of pace. I suffer from acute disorganization and I think a workshop with you might help me work through this...
sure love ya!

Yep...you could make serious money of this stuff you write! To think, people take medicine to get rid of this little happy problem! Gotta admit, I got a little pinch myself....its gotten me far and I love mine as well. Unfortunately, after four kids, the "keeping house clean" and "excercise" isn't as noticable.

I think I have this same thing, and I too am grateful for it/him/her whatever you call it. There are days however when I wish I wasn't this way.

Katie! You say you aren't creative and can't "make" things...it's OK because THIS is truely a talent!!!
Oh, and about Mitch's photo ID. As long as he doesn't look like a terrorist (he's close) I think he'll be OK.

You are too funny. I'm hoping if I hang around you enough the OCD might rub off.

Katie, I love reading your blog because it can always make me laugh. Also, could you do me a favor when you have a minute? Could you email me your home address to jstevenson@ussynthetic.com? That would be awesome! Thanks!

We finished off the NE room in the basement...just thought you'd want a little update on your old little love nest! Love checking in here and there on your blog! Hope all is well.
